    Black Community Project Monthly Movie: Local Color

    This documentary chronicles the little known history of racism in Oregon and the moving story of people, both black and white, who worked for civil rights. There are moments of highly disturbing racism in a state not known for diversity. But there are also moments of inspiration and courage as people take a stand to bring about important change.

    All films are kid friendly and there will be food and drinks available.

    John Henrik Clarke: A Great and Mighty Walk

    ANOTHER FILM FOR THE BLACK COMMUNITY... Let's come together and learn about one of our great ancestor scholars. Food and beverages will be provided. All kids are welcome.

    Historian John Henrik Clarke, who spends much of his on-camera time with his eyes closed, invites viewers to take their own inward-looking journey -- to an ancient Africa forgotten by history. Through a montage of archival footage, artwork and Clarke's own narration, he argues that the West did not bring civilization. On the contrary, Europe destroyed what civilized societies it found. The film also traces African influence to modern times and shows how the ancient ideas have endured
