Voices of the Homeless - Panel discussion

“Voices of the Homeless” Panel Discussion

The February League of Women Voters of Portland Civic Education program is dedicated to listening to people who have experienced homelessness or houselesness.

Please join us in hearing about the challenges homeless and houseless people in our community have faced and overcome and what they see as useful strategies for confronting this problem.

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 13, 7:00 PM (DOORS OPEN AT 6:30) MULTNOMAH COUNTY BUILDING, 501 SE HAWTHORNE, PORTLAND, OR This program is free and open to the public.

It’s fair to say that issues of homelessness and houselessness have been among the most talked about topics in Portland for the past few years. We’ve heard from homeowners, city officials, business people, and non-profit organizations. Everyone, it seems, recognizes that having people unhoused on the streets of Portland is good for no one.

The program will be recorded by Metro East Media for rebroadcast after the program, and will be available on the League of Women Voters website, lwvpdx.org. Funding for the recording is provided by the Multnomah Bar Foundation.

Parking is available on the street. Multnomah County Building is easily accessed by public transportation. Trimet options include bus lines 4, 6, 10, 14, 15 and the Portland Streetcar.

    CCHC Healthier Together Community Forum

Since FamilyCare announced that it will be closing its doors on January 31, there have been many questions from patients and providers alike. As this important transition takes place, our safety-net health clinics continue to provide continuity of care for the 70,000 primarily uninsured and Medicaid patients served annually through our regional coalition of clinics.

Join us for a panel discussion with Eric Hunter, CEO, from CareOregon and Maggie Bennington-Davis MD, CMO, from HealthShare of Oregon about the FamilyCare transition. We will be examining potential successes, challenges, and opportunities. We look forward to hearing what YOU think is most relevant for our safety-net community and our patients.

Community Health Workers and the Safety-Net: Healthier Together Forum - RSVP

The Coalition of Community Health Clinics invites you to help us kick-off our Healthier Together Community Forum Series! This series will address how the safety-net is responding to the health disparities our communities are facing and ways we can continue to provide more culturally responsive care. Join us for a conversation about community health workers (CHWs) on Thursday, November 16!

Together, we will explore how CHWs are being used to improve care for our communities. How can we best integrate CHWs and primary care? What are our biggest challenges and obstacles? How can organizations, safety-net clinics, nonprofits and patients work together to maximize the impact of CHWs for communities of color and other under-served populations? What can YOU do to help?
