President Trump: Year One, by Matt Bors

Sequential Art Gallery + Studio proudly presents PRESIDENT TRUMP: YEAR ONE, a collection of Trump Administration-inspired political cartoons by MATT BORS. This exhibit satirizes Mr. Trump, and is not in any way an endorsement of his time as president or his administration. The exhibition begins with an artist’s reception from 6pm-10pm on opening night, and will be available for viewing throughout January.

We reached out to Bors last January about exhibiting work he knew he would produce during the first full year of Donald J. Trump’s presidency. None of us realized at that time exactly what kind of challenge that would truly be. While Bors himself admits “I’d give anything to run out of material,” he rose to the occasion, ridiculing Trump without downplaying the potential danger of his actions. “Satire can sometimes feel useless in the face of the real life consequences of politics,” says Bors, “but with a man as petty and insecure as Trump, there's a real possibility of getting under his skin.”

Matt Bors is a cartoonist and editor based in Portland, OR. His work has appeared in The Nation, The Guardian, Fusion, The Intercept, Foreign Policy, and was collected in the book Life Begins at Incorporation. He was a 2012 Pulitzer Prize Finalist for his political cartoons and in 2013 founded The Nib.

The exhibit will be on display the entire month of January. The gallery is open for viewing Mondays 2pm-6pm, Saturdays 11am-5pm, and by appointment. The exhibit closes on Saturday, January 27th, at the end of business.
