    Door Knock with SURJ!

Please join our 7th door knock! Actions like this are a great way to practice having conversations about racial justice with other white folks, which is something our POC partners have asked SURJ to do.

This doorknock we're adding something new-- action! We'll be supporting the family of Christopher Kalonji, who was murdered by Clackamas County deputies last year in his home. At the door we'll ask people to sign a postcard to the Clackamas County District Attorney, in keeping with the request of Irene Kalonji, Christopher's mother.

At this doorknock we'll continue to sell Black Lives Matter yard signs to raise money for BLM Portland. In April 2016, SURJ National kicked off a yard sign campaign to mobilize white people to support the Black Lives Matter movement. They explain that the signs are "tools to initiate conversations around race in predominantly white communities." You can read more about the project here.

SURJ PDX is a Portland based group focused on educating, organizing and mobilizing white people to work for racial justice. We work effectively within a multiracial movement for justice. We work to connect people in the Portland area while also supporting and collaborating with national racial justice organizing efforts.
