Get ICE out of NORCOR! #IceResistanceRally

Join us for an #IceResistanceRally as we stand strong against NORCOR! We are gathering folks from all over Oregon and Washington to show NORCOR that we do not approve of the private Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) contract they currently hold as it does not reflect the values of the communities they are representing and NORCOR is not set up to be able to provide appropriate services for detainees in the first place.

Immigrant detainees being held here under the contract with ICE have been charged with federal immigration violations which are a civil matter, not criminal. We believe this is in violation of state law (OR 181A.820) and we support the lawsuit filed recently on behalf of local taxpayers which asks an Oregon judge to order NORCOR to end its contract and enjoin NORCOR from entering into similar contracts going forward. We want to see our local officials take a stand and protect all of our friends and neighbors as well as transparency and accountability from NORCOR as they work for us, the public.

We have lots of signs, flags and a couple of banners to share or feel free to bring your own!

Rally for Immigrant Detainee Hunger Strikers

Frustrated and exhausted, immigrant detainees housed at NORCOR went back on hunger strike this week, exactly 6 months after their last stand.

With conditions not improving and only empty promises being offered, the detainees have decided enough is enough.

The Northern Oregon Regional Corrections Facility (NORCOR), is a rural, regional county jail located in The Dalles, Oregon, and they're one of two rural county jails in Oregon that currently hold a contract with Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials to house federal immigration detainees at our jail.

This goes against everything we stand for in this incredibly beautiful state.

Please join us this weekend, Sunday, November 5th at 1pm, to rally in support of and in solidarity with those who are striking, as well as all immigrants being held unjustly against their will all over the country.
Hear the stories, meet new people, learn new information and ask questions!!

Rally to Support Immigrant Hunger Strikers in the Gorge

At least five immigrant detainees have been carrying out a hunger strike at the local jail in The Dalles, OR, NORCOR to protest their inhumane conditions. They were transported from the Tacoma Northwest Detention Center in attempts to squash the Tacoma hunger strike that's lasted weeks. An immigration detention center has no place in Oregon and we want ICE out! We want all our community members to feel safe in their communities.

Come show up to The Dalles on Saturday from 12-2 to help these hunger strikers be heard!
