  • CANCELED? J20: One year of hell! Trump/Pence must go!

One year of Trump in office has meant ten years of regression in social progress. This is a call to action for all who are critical of Trump and the alt-right to meet in the streets and to demand Trump's immediate resignation.

    We protest:

    • the illegitimate Trump presidency
    • the immoral actions taken by Trump's staff
    • the rise in neofascism (racists, sexists, homophobes, et al)

Time/location are subject to change. We are aware that many other groups and individuals will be protesting Trump, and we support them all. Refuse Fascism PDX does not support acts of violence / acts of terror. Wear your finest black clothing.

Portland Fights Back: Solidarity with Peoples' Struggles
    • Build the untied front against imperialism and fascism!
    • Struggle together for peoples' rights!
    • No to US wars of aggression!
    • Come be part of the conversation on how to strenghten our movements and build true solidarity with peoples' struggles here on Turtle Island and the world over!

From August 5-7 2017, The International League of Peoples' Struggle - ILPS US (ILPS) and the International Women's Alliance (IWA) successfully held the international conference entitled “Solidarity and Fight Back: Building Resistance to US-Led War, Militarism and Neofascism” in Toronto, Canada. With participants from 121 organizations, networks and movements in over 14 countries, the Conference gathered more than 250 anti-war and social justice activists who oppose wars, militarism, repression and foreign intervention by the U.S. and other imperialist powers, and who assert or support the right of peoples to self-determination, justice, liberation and peace.

This event will be part report-back from the delegates who attended from Portland and part open discussion on how to bring the mission of the conference to life here in our city. The objective of the evening will be to find the strongest points of unity amongst our movements with the goal of linking together and launching an ILPS chapter here in Portland in the coming months. If you profess the right of all peoples to self-determination, if you reject the warmongering and neo-fascism of the Trump regime, if you dream of a Portland united against imperialism and fascism, then a space is reserved for you at this event.

    Speak Out: Medicare for All!

Last week, Senate Republicans unveiled a plan to repeal the Affordable Care Act (aka "Obamacare") and replace it with a Trumpcare plan that would slash funding for Medicaid, eliminate federal funding for Planned Parenthood, and erode Obamacare's requirement that all insurers cover essential health benefits. The House version is even worse, letting insurers descriminate against people with pre-existing conditions and further reducing needed health care subsidies. Both bills would shower corporations and the wealthy with hundreds of billions of dollars worth of tax cuts, while robbing an estimated 23 million people of health care access - mostly working-class people, the elderly and people of color.

Massive public pressure forced Senate leaders to postpone the planned vote on Trumpcare until after the July 4th recess. That's a victory, but the fight is far from over.

Stopping Trumpcare's assault on our basic right to health care will require a mass movement to fix the holes in Obamacare with true universal health coverage. Our corrupt for-profit system has delivered us far worse health care than other high-income nations at far higher cost. We need single-payer Medicare for all, funded by taxes on corporations and the 1%.

Gather at noon on the PSU campus near the Saturday farmers market to share your stories and discuss how we can build a movement to:

    • Defeat Trumpcare - Trumpcare makes us sick!
    • Medicare for all - health care is a human right!
    • Pass single-payer healthcare in Oregon -Tax corporations and the rich to fund universal healthcare

Socialist Alternative Portland - We are fighting for an alternative to global capitalism - the root cause of the economic crisis, poverty, discrimination, war, & environmental destruction.

    Trump's Birthday Bash Back

On June 14th we will hold rally in celebration of anyone who's birthday is on June 14th except for one certain individual. In lieu of a birthday celebration for that person, we will protest their bigotry, misogyny, homophobia, fascism, and racism. During the rally we will be holding a piñata contest for a 100 dollar prize. Bring your homemade piñata to the event and our panel of judges will vote on the winner!

Birthdays we will be celebrating: - Che Guevera - Harriet Beecher Stowe - MC Ren - Bruce Bowen - Sammy Watkins - Pat Summit - Literally anyone even if it isn't their birthday

Birthdays we will not be celebraring: - Donald J. Trump
