The NAACP Portland Branch is hosting a two-day event called Freedom Summer 2017. Our community needs healing and the ability to come together and develop skills that allow us to rely on our faith and our community in these tough political times.

Day 1: Friday 7/14/17

7:00pm - 8:30pm

A diverse panel of faith leaders will participate in a facilitated conversation that speaks to the intersections of faith and non-violent direct action based on the teachings of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Day 2: Saturday 7/15/17

9:00am -1:00pm

Workshops will address topics such as:

  • Bystander Intervention
  • De-escalation training
  • Non-violent direct-action training
  • Youth organizing training
