FusionArte presents an introduction to the multimedia project Lente Móvil: The Other side of My Community at the Portland Art Museum. This year Lente Móvil took on the task of searching and documenting subcultures from our community: los charros, los danzantes mexicas and la lucha libre.

On Friday, June 9th from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the Stevens board room at the Portland Art Museum, Lente Móvil: Identity, Tradition, and Migration examines the importance of cultural identity, cultural tradition, and migration as it impacts personal growth and collective strength for our Latino community in the United States. This multimedia event includes a photo-visual display and a curated discussion.

Panelists are Octaviano Merecías Cuevas, Policy and Civic Engagement Manager at Latino Network and a Member of the New Portlander's Commission. He is joined by Cynthia Carmina Gomez Norzagaray, Executive Director, Cultural Resource Centers and Faculty, University Studies & Public Admin, and Alberto Moreno, Chair for the Commission on Hispanic Affair.

Accompanying us this evening will be members and participants from los charros, los danzantes mexicas, and la lucha libre who will be speaking about the goals and growth of these subcultures in the United States. Thank you to Santa Amparo, Ismael Jaramillo, y Megaboy for taking the time to share their experiences this evening!
