Gun Violence as a Public Health Issue (GVPHI) Community Forum

On Saturday, April 22, OHSU and Portland State University will convene a community forum entitled “Transforming pain into power: Equipping a community to address the impacts of gun violence.”

The event, which will welcome all individuals and families, is intended to:

• Establish a safe venue that encourages community and institutional collaboration to reduce gun violence, address the social and societal conditions that contribute to it and advance the mission of healing and hope.

• Validate that gun violence is a preventable public health issue that may be managed through positive community engagement and academic research.

The day will include entertainment, knowledgeable key note speakers, small group break-out sessions, as well as on-site resources to advance knowledge, advocacy and healing.
