YWCA of Greater Portland, 4610 SE Belmont
4610 SE Belmont St
Portland, OR 97213, US (map)

This highly interactive workshop, led by the Portland Peace Team, is focused on techniques that anyone can use to move from bystander to peacemaker safely.

  • Practice grounding yourself in nonviolence and compassion for others.
  • Try out various de-escalation techniques to find the ones that work for you.
  • Join with other like-minded people to gather support for intervening.
  • Experience the power that comes from knowing when and how to act in uncertain situations.

The event is hosted by YW ACT, a community-driven leadership program, designed to give members the skills and opportunity to lead, organize and plan advocacy efforts on behalf of the YWCA. Members champion issues and legislative actions to assist the YWCA in achieving its mission of eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.
