This session we will be talking about a diverse array of tactics, dealing with violent flanks, and what happens with backfire.

Violent flanks/Diversity of Tactics - how to use a variety of tactics to make progress, how to deal with violent portions of a movement that can arise.

Backfire - All violence backfires. Violence by armed forces of the state opens up sympathy for a campaign as long as the campaign keeps its nonviolent discipline and image. Violence, even in self-defense, by a movement backfires and justifies crackdown even as it removes sympathy for the movement by general public.

Room will be updated as soon as we have the information.

These trainings are put on by Students United for Nonviolence and often feature speakers from portland peace team and more. The series includes a new training every two weeks. All of the training sessions are held on campus at Portland State University.
