Faisal Saeed Al Mutar & Peter Boghossian: Are Western Values Worth Defending?

PSU Smith Center, 1825 SW Broadway
1825 SW Broadway
Portland, OR 97201, US (map)

room 327

Values born out of the Western enlightenment tradition, such as individual freedom (expression, assembly, religion), the rule of law, and freedom of conscience, are frequently criticized for being “Eurocentric” and unaccommodating of outside groups. Join us for an engaging discussion between Iraqi-born human rights activist Faisal Saeed Al Mutar and Philosophy Professor Peter Boghossian as they explore what “enlightenment values" are and if they should transcend and become universal.

Wednesday, November 8 at 6:30 p.m. Smith Memorial Student Union, room 327

This is a free public event by the Freethinkers of Portland State University. Refreshments provided.
