Description

Join YW ACT for our August meeting! YW ACT is a community driven, advocacy focused leadership program designed to give community members the skills and opportunity to lead, organize and plan advocacy efforts of the YWCA of Greater Portland.

Join us from 5:30-6 before the general body meeting for a training in "Active Bystanders"-Legal Norms and Strategies for Stepping Up, presented by Paul Newton, JD, CIP

The purpose of this introductory training session is to provide basic legal background of the unusual role of an “Active Bystander”, and to give practical guidance regarding what one should and should not do to help a person in imminent danger of being attacked.

Paul Newton, JD, CIP is an attorney with a long background in criminal law, juvenile law, and bioethics.

The YWCA of Greater Portland's mission is to eliminate racism, empower women, and promote peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.
