independents for Progressive Action presents: Now is the Time (in collaboration with HCAO)
Lake Theater & Cafe, Lake Oswego

Now is the Time
Announcing the third film in independents for Progressive Action's Progressive Film Series at the Lake Theater! For this month's film, we are pleased to collaborate with Health Care for All Oregon!

This monthly series will focus on films which address Social, Racial, Economic, and Environmental Justice.

Following the first screening we will host a panel discussion and provide opportunities for audience members to get involved.

Our series will screen monthly on the fourth Sunday with a 6:00 p.m. showing, followed by a panel discussion. All screenings will be at the Lake Theater. Please plan to arrive by 5:45 so you can order food and beverages for a 6 p.m. movie start time!

Cost: As with all iPA events, admission is sliding scale - $0-27 with no one turned away for lack of funds. Funds will be used first to support the following month's film with the remainder to be shared equally between a local non-profit organization and a high school club associated with the focus of the film or film making.

About Now is the Time:

We have seen enough to know that insurance based healthcare is not effective for keeping costs down and giving everyone access to necessary medical care. Advocates are totally committed to changing the healthcare system, and polls indicate that the general public supports the idea of universal healthcare. So it should be a no-brainer, right? Well, no. Some of the obstacles are obvious. Big money. Fear of government. But there seems to be something more, like a fog that keeps people from moving forward together. What is so difficult about the idea of looking after each other?

This film intends to expose the fog, and will leave viewers examining what it means to be an American and what it takes to step into action.

The big screening of Big Pharma
Oregon City Public Library

The lovely Oregon City Public Library is hosting Health Care for All Oregon Clackamas county on November 3rd at their First Friday Films for a showing of Big Pharma!

Please join us to witness Big Pharma, an eye-opening documentary film by Vince Mondillo, Richard Master, Wendell Potter and Henry Nevison. The film describes the dynamics behind the escalating cost of pharmaceuticals in the U.S. and the impact of soaring healthcare costs on U.S. businesses, working families and our overall economy. It proposes a simple fix that mirrors a "best practice" utilized throughout the industrialized world.

The event is free and kid friendly. Bring yourself, your neighbors, and your friends to learn of the horrors of the pharmacuetical industry and how you can be a part of our healthcare reform movement!
