Human Solutions Family Center

IF YOU ARE INTERSESTED IN PARTICIPATING PLEASE EMAIL CHERYL or DEBBIE as space is limited for this ongoing outreach. Donations are always gladly accepted. cherylann2005@yahoo.com or Debbie Gordon sodeb77@gmail.com

Food servers and donations needed for this ongoing outreach. Servers need to be at the center around 5:30 pm.

If you are able to participate with cooking let Cheryl and Debbie know ASAP! Will you donate cash and someone else will put the food together, or will you provide the food item??

Also, if you are able to serve the meal, let them know. ASAP. We have limited space so please be very specific as to who will be volunteering. There will be some volunteers actually serving the food, two or three to help the mom's that have more than two plates to manage and 3 or 4 in the kitchen to keep warm food coming out and to rinse dishes that go into the dishwasher.

We don't take pictures that include the residents. We are there to deliver as much dignity as we can along with a nutritious meal. And we are appreciated by the residents!

The meal will be served on Sunday,April 30th. Food and Volunteers are asked to be at the center by 5:30 pm. We begin to serve around 6:15 pm. We need a total of 12 volunteers. A couple in the kitchen to bring out warm food, a couple to deal with dishes, and the rest out in front serving or helping a parent that has more than one child maneuver through the line.

Renters’ Rights Hotline Training
The Community Alliance of Tenants

By far our highest demand from tenants is seen on our Tenants’ Rights Hotline. We answer hundreds of calls a month from renters in crisis and our need for more volunteers to meet that need is ever-expanding. Hotline volunteers require a special amount of training and therefore we ask for a 6-month commitment at 4 hours per month for those willing to take on this community need.

Interested in other forms of volunteering? No worries. RSVP at our ticket link and let us know if you'd prefer one-off or shorter-term commitments.

Please note: this is the first half of a 2-part training. The second half of training will be on Saturday, July 15, 1 p.m. – 4 p.m at the same location. If you cannot make both training sessions, please make arrangements by emailing Tim@Oregoncat.org.

Bark Base Camp Volunteer Planning Meeting
Bark Dugout

Volunteer to support Bark's Base Camp! Attend this planning meeting on Monday, August 7th from 6-8pm at the Bark Dugout: 351 NE 18th Ave in Portland.

All are invited to this meeting who are interested in helping plan our Base Camp, which will be out in the forest August 24th – September 7thin the Crystal Clear Timber Sale.

At this meeting, we’ll share information and answer questions about the camp. We will also provide a list of roles which we’ll be trying to fill relating to camp outreach, logistics, and donations. This is a great way to plug into Bark's work this summer and get involved. Help us make this camp the best one ever!

Bark is awesome! Bark is the resource for community action to protect Mt. Hood National Forest and surrounding federal lands. We prioritize grassroots organizing and believe in the power of an engaged public. We recognize that the forest should thrive not just to provide resources for the human community, but also for the inherent value of nature itself. We maintain an organizational culture that is transparent, inclusive and cooperative, where volunteers, staff and board work together to realize the vision of Bark.

What does BARK stand for? Bark’s name originates from the barker, who stands before the public and uses persistent outcry to call attention. We are a group of barkers, ensuring that the public hears about all events, good and bad, occurring in the Mt. Hood National Forest.
